The Artist
Art is present in every aspect of my life, but this is where it shines most. It takes many forms, from performing on stage, to writing poetry and prose, and leaning into my creativity across languages. It also changes along the way, and informs all other aspects of my work.
Finding balance through play, on and off-stage.
We often feel that we cannot take a break and have fun, but that is precisely when we need it most. Improv taught me that (among many other things). For over a decade, I have been playing on- and off-stage, in English and Spanish, in a wide range of projects that covered from improvised monologues and funerals to semi-structured plays and immersive exhibits. Each project and show taught me something new that has shaped other areas, including my facilitation and public speaking.
These days, you can catch me performing with Sábado Picante, DMV's only all-Spanish improvised telenovela, and during my favorite annual holiday, Washington Improv Theater's Improvapalooza.

I took my first improv class in search of a hobby during graduate school. Since then, WIT has been a space for expansion, joy, and creativity that have shaped my personal and professional life. Throughout the past decade, I have had the opportunity to be part of it as a student, performer, facilitator, volunteer, and even bringing in my perspective and skills in tangible ways such as the ESL improv workshops and the Data & Analytics Task Force I led during my time as a board member.

I write to think and to feel, and that is part of the creative work that exists alongside each of the other areas of my playground. They are not separate, but integrated and intertwined. Writing, in all its forms, and language brings me comfort and connection, and I dive deeper into these ideas as part of my daily practice.
